Mahatma Gandhi a.k.a. Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, was born on October 2, 1869 in west India. As a child, he was described as timid and shy. He was married at the age of thirteen. Later in time, he studied law in London. While studying, his interests turned into the wisdom of nonviolence. He came back to India in 1891 and practiced law. Later on, he decided to go to South Africa to work and and to promote the rights of Indians. He fought for the liberation of India through non-violent acts.
He is known to be one of the spiritual and political leaders of his time. His acts, principles, and practices spread around the globe. He is well-known for advocating resistance in peaceful ways.
